ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

A league media deal thread

Maybe not without Fox, Telstra are shareholders arent they?
True 50%. But fox offer netflix as well so "sleeping with the enemy" isn't quite out of the question. It would also leave them with just afl as their freebie give away on their phone plans since nine chucked a fit over the nrl streaming.

Well hopefully then members get a sub or something.

Interesting and hope at least some of it plays out to it’s potential. Time will tell, to sell a good product they definitely need to address commentators and officials or it will turn people off pretty quick.

Roughly 8 to 9 weeks ago Townsend the APL who negotiated this deal had a chat on SBS with Lucy... in that chat he said we are not looking for the most money we are looking for a broadcaster partner ...A partner as committed as we are to grow Football and a partner who understands and respects Football.

I am told by a reliable source that Nine / Stan offered more...

MASSIVE nay MEGA MASSIVE for doing the media deal we have always needed.... the truth is 10 are hugely now invested in Football with no bidding for the NRL & AFL.. further 10 have something only SBS has and that is a number of senior personalises as Football fans, these being, Waleed Aly, Sam Peng, Ed Kavalee, Miguel Maestre.

CBS is also heavily invested in Football with a number of broadcast of European competitions and huge experience with the MLS... The MLS part is important as they understand how to operate in a not friendly Football media environment...

The other I think key aspect is ...hhhhmmmm.... while SBS were great Football supporters of this it cannot be denied, in the Australian context they spend decades telling us all how to run and manage the game to the point were most of the Football talk centred on management structures and frameworks and it was mostly negative...

10 will not be dictating how to run Football but talk about the game.... SBS IMO fell into its own trap in that they continually talked about structures and management and saw themselves as the ones who should run the game.... 10 won't make this mistake...

We finally have a commercial network, that understand Football, has made Football a huge part of their growth plans, have well recognised on air celebrities who support Football and have Paramount coming in at a very attractive price entry point.

Best media deal ever for Football in Australia.... congrats to all involved...only sad part is they did not get to do a press conference it kinda got leaked..

The project on 10 has already had both aleague and wleague stars on. It was quite funny because they welcomed them to the family and then said would you rather eat weird shit in a jungle or put yourself up as a bachelor or bachelorette because now your with 10 that's what's coming.

While Ten as a commercial FTA partner is what we show interest in - CBSSports (Paramount+) are the real entity that you need to worry about. I think you will find that the A-League and W-League are just parts of what they are looking at. I would not be surprised if we see more deals with 10/Paramount+ for the 2023 WWC and AFC qualifiers (men and women) for the World Cup.

We may well just be a small part of a much bigger play which makes Ten subject to their masters. They (AFC and CBSSports) may be looking at a better alignment with the Asian leagues and running similar season times to the J-League and K-League and subsequently in line with the NPL leagues and possible NSD

As happy as i am for the league to get a decent deal and to be able to move away from Fox i am worried about my Dad who lives in rural NSW and loves the Mariners and A League, he never misses a game.

He is well into his 70s, can only get satellite internet which is terrible for streaming anything and mobile reception is sketchy at best.

I really don't want to see him lose something that brings him so much happiness, any ideas on how i can help him?

There is zero chance we will see the Mariners on that free to air slot on a Saturday. Likewise with the Jets, Adelaide, Wellington and Perth.

It will also be interesting if they release a full draw and only a handful of rounds at a time.

The only thing I can think of is potentially Starlink but that's a long shot. Maybe try contacting the club and they might be able to help.
