ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

In brighter news, the Adcock queue was really not too bad. We left home about 8 and were around 10. Certainly much better than some of the horror stories I've heard over recent weeks!

So if you have symptoms, grab some snacks and your favourite podcasts (and devices or whatever for the kids) and go get tested!

We sent kid #1 to daycare on Tuesday. Logic was that while things are shit right now, at what point is it going to be better? Given that, and that she can't be shut up at home forever, might as well keep things normal.

Aaaaaaanyway, now she's a close contact.
The mrs is a childcare worker and send our 5yo there too. Had the chef test positive so both had to isolate and get tested being a close contact while the centre closed. Both had PCR test from adcock as did I plus did the RAT test as accepting those now. Sent results to centre and back to work and school they go ?

My missus booked me in for a booster next Wednesday.
But I phoned around this morning and got an appointment this afternoon now.
Gives me 2 days to get over it, if I'm sick like I was last time.
First Pfizer fine. 2nd one, 12 hours later I felt like I had a cold and felt terrible and so dehydrated for the next 18 hours or so.

I`ve heard that you need to drink copious amounts of beers to combat the dehydration mate.
Atagi recommend full strength beer is best, and also recommend it be consumed in groups (socially distanced of course) whilst watching football games...

Obviously that's where I went wrong. I drank copious amounts of beer while watching the football.
All by myself.

Maybe a better game to watch is how many EPL clubs are going to be owned by insane wealth.... can see Man U & Liverpool struggling to make the top six soon... what with the recent sales of Newcastle & Southampton.... add Chelsea and Man City .... next in line Leeds I reckon

Got a Covid alert today. From Lisarow Woolworths yesterday apparently. Funnily enough I didn't go out at all yesterday. Was there this morning though

I've noticed the alerts are all over the place now.
I've had one or two a day for the last few days and when I go to history there's nothing there.
My elderly neighbour got worried a couple of weeks ago. She had an alert for a cafe she'd been to.
But nothing in the history. Phoned the cafe and they knew nothing.

I don't really see the point in alerts anymore.
If you're at woolies, then you're low risk - that means 'monitor for symptoms'.
Aren't we doing that anyway? I think that's why a lot of people have stopped bothering.....though I guess for some, if they know they've had that low-risk exposure they might modify their activities for a few days.

Just talking to one of my sons and he told me that in NSW Delta was 65% of daily cases ... thats not the way its being broadcast.... and thats why NSW health is very concerned about the lags and case numbers .... as by far the biggest case numbers is Delta

I heard that it was that 65% of hospitalisations were Delta, not cases.

45k today. We shouldn't focus on case numbers.

All the same, the fact that they've gone from 22,577 to 45,098 in a week is a serious concern because it's doubling in a week.

The biggest worry is that hospitalisations, ICU patients and patients requiring ventilation are on the same trajectory:
  • hospitalisations up to 1795 (from 903 7 days ago),
  • ICU patients are up to 145 (from 79) and
  • patients requiring ventilation are up to 40 (from 26 a week ago).

What we really want to see is even some sign that the growth is tapering, but there's nothing. We're just doubling every handful of days.

With Delta, we had the following peaks:
  • Hospitalisations: 1268
  • ICU: 242
  • Ventilation: 123

So we're past the prior hospitalisation record, but at 60% of the ICU numbers and 35% of the ventilation peak. That's probably because for people hospitalised, a combination of the effect of vaccines and a milder variant mean that as a proportion of active cases, people are doing vastly better.

But there's still a proportion of people who are getting really sick and who will die. If the denominator (case numbers) keeps getting bigger, the numerator (deaths, etc.) will go up with it.

We're not heading to good places.

VIC over 51K today... assume QLD / ACT / SA/ TAS are over 20K this is going to be some scary number, especially when you factor in as dibo posted the relationship between raw case numbers and hospitalisations.

Personal effect...

My sister in law in QLD has cancer and she and my wife are very close... in all of cov we have not been able to travel to QLD especially while she was still fit and could go out.... she phoned last night and said don't come its to risky I can't go out and I am getting sicker...

My youngest son is believed to have "Active Arthritis" its unbelievably painful when it occurred... twice now hospital medical day long tests have been cancelled due to cov ... he is due to have tests carried out on 19 Jan we expect this to be cancelled now... what's worst to prepare for these test he has to have his immune system at its lowest so he can catch anything as it will make him ill an cancel the tests.... further his immune system needs to be low for over a month.... can't drink alcohol and can't eat certain foods... its takes some time to get ready for the tests and this could be the third cancellation...

As for me, restrict leaving home restrict who I see in my office... like do I demand a RAT test to see me...

This is it - the current parameters could maybe be acceptable assuming everyone is fit and well but that's not actually the case and the vulnerable are just being exposed
