I actually don’t think the VAR was involved, the assistant who would have seen Diamanti kick the second ball on the field has intervened to overturn the decision.
Such a long time between goal and overturn for VAR not to be involved. Not saying it was but if the linesman has something to add we usually don't get that much time in between. Plus when the ball goes in the linesman does not react, flag stays down and he acts like it's play on. Again it's grey as f**k. Would love for them to release the audio of that decision, or someone just leaks it.

3 - Cummings
2 - Kuol
1 - Triantis

Kuol had a massive impact on the game. He put a thousand volts through the team from the moment he stepped on the pitch - scared the shit out of WU and forced NTS into a rash challenge. He then was dangerous every time the ball came near him.

He and Cummings MUST be picked for Qatar.

I think the central defensive pairing did well yesterday. Could've done a bit more to stop the goals but so could've everyone else on the field by not losing the ball up the field and tracking their runners.
Triantis looked like he'd played 50+ games, he could be anything. He had some good forward passes into feet and his ball over the top to Kuol for our first goal was *chefs kiss*. Kaltak was improved on his first game so hopefully his trajectory continues. Good stuff boys!

Triantis was brilliant -especially being paired with that absolute dud Kaltak. Sorry but he is absolutely shit and is only playing because of injuries. Nectorabsolutely monstered it. Left horribly exposed by Silvera's laziness and complete lack of work rate for the 2nd (at least foul the bloke ffs) and bugger all he could do with the 1st

I reckon the complete lack of care by Silvera for that goal got him hooked. Ruhs was given a huge bollocking by Monty in 1H for not getting forward to be the last man on quick kicks.

Yep same here. The way he moves and passes reminds me of a young Sains. I think he'll be great for us. I think Kaltak will get better and we'll have 4 great options for cb. I reckon he could do with some sprint training though. I think he could be faster than he currently is.

Law has nothing written about players throwing the ball on the pitch. Law is clear
Yep, looks clear to me too, should have been a goal.

No interference, cleared within seconds and away from the game ball passage of play. I saw one or two WU players who weren't involved in the passage of play slow down and then protest once we scored, but during the live-action, no one seemed to care.

"When there are two soccer balls on the pitch, the rules stipulate that the game should be stopped temporarily to remove the extra ball – but only if it directly interferes with match play. In the event where play is not interrupted by the presence of a second ball, then the referee should rid the field of that soccer ball at the earliest opportunity."

It may actually be a possibility.. (some audio / explanation).. that game will be in Kuols all access video?

Pain stopped to close the wide player down because the second ball was at his feet. If that didn’t directly interfere with match play I don’t know what would.

How does there not involve any kind of sanction for WU? Whomever quoted earlier that next time we look to have our defence beat, they are 1 on 1 with our keeper and a certain goal looming, we should just kick a ball onto the field.. has a valid point.

It’s an irrelevant comment in the scheme of that play. Two balls were on the pitch and the second ball interfered with play. Law is clear that it is no goal.

Subsequently, after this, the referee must then deal with Diamanti for his indiscretion.

How the referee and the assistant handled the overall play was probably not ideal but this doesn’t cloud the fact that it was still a breach of the law.

It was handled terribly then on all counts. Speculation is that diamanté did it purposefully to slow things down .. the point is that he was not dealt with, at all. Had play been stopped the moment it went on to the field, that’s one thing. But it wasn’t. Play was allowed, goal was scored and awarded.. then reversed with zero repercussion for the perpetrator.

Anyhow, it’s very fortunate that this disallowed goal didn’t affect the outcome on the end. From 2-0 down.. extremely lucky. Else we may be a tad more irate about it rather than philosophical.

Agree - the officials error was allowing the goal - laws of the game are crystal clear = no goal. That they were prepared to allow it says a great deal about the standards in the AL.

All the subs (especially Kuol) made a massive contribution. It is great having quality depth.
Kuolo running at tired defences is an awesome weapon. It was good to see Benni and Fazz get their Mojo back and Luongo may have done enough to start next game.
Overall.
I think the centre backs will stay until Dan can push one out. Kaltak was solid and safe and dominated the high balls. The only worry I have with Triantis is that he seems to lack a bit of pace, which can cause problems when you are defending high.
I like Aquilina's attack but am yet to be convinced about his defence. I think he will get better with more game time.
Nizz I thought played an excellent controlling game similar to that that was played by Bozanic before he went off the rails. Good to see him having a shot even if he did hit the screen. goals will come. Interesting that when Steele came on he moved into an AM position. Getting better every week.
Many had a good solid game with flashes of brilliance. Great leave for the non goal.
I like Tulio's corners when they clear the first defender. They come like a bullet and will lead to goals. A very narrow margin for error though.

Lots of improvements still to come. Future looking positive.
Share your concerns about Aquilina, he needs support in front of him... SS left him exposed a lot, and defensively Aquilina needs support. Triantis is still learning and also lacks coverage with people running in space..

How to solve the right side defence is open but its also where Perth torn us apart... I am sure Monty is looking at his options.....

My suggestion is as follows...

From the left

Fazz..... Hall .... Kaltak .... Acquilina

..... Ballard..... Triantis

Benni.... Tulio ..... Nizzy...

Tulio IMO would be better suited to an attacking mid role...

Nice ideas. Before yesterday I may have agreed with you.
Nizz has become our distributor from the back and controlled things so well yesterday I would not move him.
Our weakness in defence was down our right hand side. Silvera (correctly) paid the penalty but it was team effort (Silvera, Aquilina and Triantis). I am yet to be convinced by Aquilina defence.
I would not split Kaltak and Triantis, they were solid. We got caught on the break twice playing very high. Hall will have to wait his turn. He is far from where he used to be. Hopefully gets back to where he was soon.
I would be tempted to start with Storm as Right fullback and replace him with Aquilina at 60min (depending on state of the game).
If you want to play a #10 behind Cummings the player I would try there would be Silvera. He has a lethal shot and can run at defences, something we lack with the exception of Kuol.

No one was particularly dreadful yesterday. we dominated and could have been 3 goals up with a bit of luck before the got on the board.

Let's see how we stack up against some of the better sides before changing too much.

Lots of options. Great time to be a manager.
