Mariners v Welly (Pride Round)

He has won a few MoMs this season and was probably riding high in the Alex Tobin at one point, but his reds have been costly. If he played in a sky blue jersey then he would probably still have zero reds, but he plays in yellow and navy and there has to be a point where the risk of his all-or-nothing approach outweighs the benefits.

Probably don't need to debate it too much though because by the time he has served his ban, Triantis will be back from overseas and regained his lock on RCB, and I reckon Faz will have a lock on LCB. If Monty his true to his word about players earning their way back in then he may have a long wait
If Fazz says as LCB it is good that Sash got good minutes today today as well as Windust. He may be needed in the net couple of weeks

Still up there in the list even with his red cards

We really dominated for most of the game and from that perspective it was a strong performance. Always felt we needed another goal to make the most of our chances.
I've heard we will appeal for Kaltak but it could be difficult being his third red card. Also, it was the fourth offical who complained to the ref about Nick and he accused him of doing something there was video evidence he did't do. The fourth official really grates my gears. What is the point of him. Seems like the only influence he has on the game os to whine when someone in the heat of battle complains to him.

On a positive note though, I was thinking how good it was to have a local A-league team to support in a great stadium and community. Last night was super frustrating and I can understand people wanting to give up on going to games. The alternative of having nothing though is not that great. Hopefully we can win back the fans again.
So if " there was video evidence he did't do" then there no evidence he did do it.
Even Judge Judy would dismiss that one...

Talay was in the fourth officials ear and very likely helped engineer this and also to some degree the send off imo. That doesn't excuse the referees the fact they are routinely so obviously influenced shows how poor they are.

I've stayed out of the Kaltek debate so far as I like to give players enough time to show consistency.

He is an excellent and athletic defender who has saved our bacon with his heroics many times. But he does so by launching himself in more often than not.

This, in my estimation, is due to the fact that as a late bloomer at this level he doesn't read the game quite as fast as maybe he should and covers with his athleticism.
As a result he throws himself into duels, blocks and intercepts - often as slides - and plays close to the edge quite a great deal.
Whilst it regularly works a smarter defender (by which I mean a more experienced reader of the game) wouldn't need to.
Each athletic last-second dive in is a roll of the dice and increases the chances of acquiring red cards, 10 men teams and further suspensions - impactful consequences.

This dice rolling due to late vision has led to 3 reds so far as well as however many yellows. It has hurt our results and our depth.

The way I see it Monty believes Kaltek will gain the experience needed, probably via some hiccups, the way a youth player would. Once consistent he could be gold. Only time will tell if that extra speed of game assessment makes it to where it needs to be, but so far it has proven a costly learning curve for our season.

Sitting second it's still in our hands, but too many more slips and we may even miss finals altogether. Would be such a shame as we have a team that could easily be sitting first.

Couldnt get much better photos of these because of P+'s shitty "protections" for screen capture on PC.1677337612385.png
Tulio had to avoid this high foot challenge (wasnt called), thankfully didnt connect.

1677337693847.pngIt was my understanding that a two footed challenge (according to the laws of the game) is 99% of the time deemed serious foul play/dangerous regardless of if you "win" the ball or not, Kraev was only awarded a mere yellow for this... IMO straight red all day

I guess not unless you're a CCMFC player?

Yep.
I assume the club isn’t bothering with an appeal / review this time?

Yet a few weeks ago he was being acclaimed as the best centre half in the league, with many here singing his praises, and getting heaps of MOM, especially on Paramount.
Amazing how a couple of poor actions by a player who plays close to the edge can quickly change fans opinions.

We will miss his presence badly.
I've been consistent with my opinion of Kaltak. He's not a dreadful player but his lack of professional experience is very evident and more importantly he's not learning from his mistakes.

At a professional level you just can't be regularly costing the team points in a game, particularly as a visa player. I said at the time the over-hype with the brick wall stuff was so clearly going to come back to bite him.

Lots of sliding tackles didn't work out that well for Ziggy the winner, I think we'll see Kaltak in the NPL before too long if he can't learn from his mistakes. It'll be interesting to see if he can rise to the challenge and adapt or falls by the wayside.

Seems like a decent guy and has great strength in the air, let's hope he can get his head around the Professional game. If only we had Kye alongside him this season to coach him, what a difference that could have made.

I think the photo of Zawada and Farrell is misleading.it was a sensational sliding tackle by Faz-perfect timing and execution.Faz's right foot has caused Zawada's leg to be rotated and thus his right foot is in the position shown against Faz's leg.I think Zawada was in the act of shooting when Faz slid in and that is why his leg is raised and in that position.

Kraev's tackle on Nizzy is another matter-two footed and studs up.Definite red card tackle.

However I do feel that poor and incompetent officiating is giving us grief.Other teams also get poor decisions from the on field ref and VAR.In the City v Smurf match the commentators highlighted the very obvious pulling back of Burgess who was attempting to get to a cross-should have been a penalty.

I might be looking at match officials through rose coloured glasses rather than yellow and blue ones but I do feel that we are too ready to cry bias and conspiracy against them.

Exactly my thoughts but more eloquently stated!

People are getting hung up the 3rd red, his very first one was an absolute joke and nothing more than the referees calling DOGSO on anything remotely close, there was another player also red carded for a similarly bad decision then they stopped as they were wrong. Second was a get square and no where near as DOGSO as Grant. His third is more of a red than the other two. Get off the blokes back he has copped some very ordinary decisions but some have his career ending. Glad I’m not a player under some of you quick draw folk.

I think Monty sees him as a mainstay CB whilst we bring through the young ones next to him which I think is good planning. I expect to seem him stay as our main CB at least for the remainder of his contract. Get used to him, we could do far worse.
