ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I'm not on the McGarry bandwagon but he is definately better than Aquilina.
IMO he was our weakest tonight... his passing especially in the first half was poor... he seemed to dislike in your face pressure..... he did make some lovely passes I will admit especially when they were down to 10...

SS, what a match he torn Aquilina to shreds, me thinks it was very clever to let him go and as a swap for McGarry that pure madness...

Kalak is returning to his best form... hopefully he can guide Farrell around next week...

Just an observation on the first goal... we had no one on the post from their corner ... anyone on the post would have stopped their first goal...

Marking goal side by Balard and McGarry would have stopped the goal.

That was like a finals game. You could feel it. Maybe it was the packed away support?
The "muscle memory" of those years when playing finals, reaching GF's was normal seemed to be back.
So many faces I hadn't seen for ages. Especially away.
I still think our midfield overall is too weak to win the finals. The scum swamped our 2 and at some point Monty has to deal with it.
I'm now heading off to UK but will be back for GF
:)

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
Jenkinson was a veritable looney during the corners , must be one of those toss bags that has to hate everyone before he crosses the sideline, and as for Mikelwhatthef**k, what a absolute raging dipshit, how he wasn't the 1st of the reds is beyond me , if for nothing but simulation and retaliation

have to give it to Evans on the whistle (i just threw up in my mouth ) a tiny bit, he had a great avo and KGJ clearly didnt give a flying, cause we didnt hear from him all game

as for the coasties , well its all been said so I shan't reiterate, SO...MoM...Silver Sammy , right?, has to be

Defs max and arry haven't shown enough to own that second CM spot. Either Monty needs to simplify what he wants from them or he needs to find someone more consistent.

Too often did we end up with a counter on us with no CM in position. And thats against the fkn jest.

Terrible start. Jets are always up for it against us but they faded quickly.

Not sure if correct but i feel we’ve been done before on a corner going short being flicked to the back post. An era we need to fix.

Terrible finish giving chances like that.

Can’t believe how poorly Jets treat Archie Goodwin. He always is a handful against us. He should leave but think he loves the place to much.

Top 4 all play each other at the same time on Friday night. Will be interesting

Max has been really good last few weeks but got crowded by the Jets and had a stinker and rightly subbed but still our best pairing with Niz.

We get swamped by design in the midfield as we only carry two players and most carry 3.

Only city and WSW now are better

This is correct. The Jets were playing a 4-6-0 defensive formation. That is one way of playing against our formation. Our middle two were on a hiding to nothing and swamped. Not their fault. Nizzy was losing the ball just as much as Max.

It was only when we injected either Kaltak or Triantis forward, abandoned the verticality and went wide, we started dominating the match. The unfit Newcastle midfield then started to tire and we had control back.

It was a small adjustment by Monty but the end of the first half became ours. Subbing Harry on was also the right thing to do as he is less of a box to box midfielder and anchored the midfield more. It had to happen against the Jets as they had big numbers in midfield.

I don’t necessarily think starting Harry over Max in future games will be the right thing to do.

Outnumbering us in the midfield definitely worked well in the first 20-25 minutes and that is why we had to resort to a lot of long balls at this stage of the game.

Silvera's brilliant goal and their lack of fitness started to tell at the end of the first half though I was concerned about Sotiro's pace and propensity to find space.I was glad when Papas subbed him for a pedestrian midfielder. He should have left him there and brought on Buhagiar.

Despite the intense rivalry between the clubs I would not like to see them fold as the Newcastle area is one of the heartlands of Australian football.Their lack of onfield success is a worry though and the fact that other clubs have to prop them up won't continue indefinitely.Anyway if they did go under the F1 derby would be no more and that would be a pity.

This was a banana skin game and one the old Mariners probably would have screwed up. It’s a great sign that we went on to win playing a team well up for the contest and their season on the line and pulling every dirty tactic they could on us.

As Monty said in his post match presser once we survived the first 20-25 mins and only conceded a scrappy goal we then looked like we were going to win. We closed up shop when O’Neil had a major brain fart and just cruised to victory. Wasn’t pretty but I don’t read to much into that either. We just felt comfortable and slackened off for what ended as a relatively easy win.

I thought the Dingo’s body language and desperation to score sealed my opinion he is leaving at season’s end. He clearly wants to get the record and this is his last chance. He also snapped a few times at others which I don’t like to see and we are a team and he owes the club for resurrecting his career. He needs to calm down and play hard for the club and help the club go as far as possible this season and stop chasing personal goals.

Seems two weeks out from finals the officials have changed their tune on late studs up tackles. Three instances in the two games last night would have been reds any other week. Even the commentators mentioned how lucky players were not to be upgraded.
