Despite taking a first half lead the Central Coast Mariners failed to secure their third consecutive win after Fraser Park came home strong to lock down a 3-1 victory at Pluim Park.
Central Coast Mariners Academy 1 (Berry 41’) Fraser Park 3 (Riberio 43’, Sansom 51’, Todoroski 67’)

Branko Culina's Fraser Park had a 1-1 draw with the Mounties Wanderers last week, and are unbeaten in their last four matches.

After an even first 30 minutes, the first real chance fell to the visitors as a free-kick on the edge of the area was struck by a Fraser Park striker but Adam Pearce made a fantastic save to keep the scores level. Eight minutes later Pearce was again called to action who made another great save.

Shortly after it was the home team who drew first blood from a set piece. Adam Berry fired home from a corner to earn the lead in the 41st minute.

Although the lead wouldn’t last long and Fraser Park hit back two minutes later, after a thunderous shot from Riberio left Pearce with no chance in goals, sending it straight into the top corner and leveling the scores before half time.

Fraser Park hit the lead in the 51st minute after a scrap in the 18-yard-box fell to the feet of Sansom who calmly finished to make the score 2-1.

Fraser Park went 3-1 ahead in the 67th minute thanks to a well-placed finish from Todoroski, which was sent into the far top corner from close range.

The Academy boys nearly made it 3-2 in the 75th minute when Reece Papadimtrios hit the ball on the volley on the edge of the box. The ball looked destined for the back of the net but it didn't quite dip quickly enough, only just sailing over the crossbar.

Papadimtrios had another good chance soon after from a free kick but it was saved by the Fraser Park keeper. Substitute Cooper Buswell nearly scored on the follow up but it took a deflection and resulted in a corner.

The Academy fought until the final whistle but couldn't quite find the back of the net, being defeated by a well drilled Fraser Park.

The Central Coast Mariners Academy are at home again next week, hosting Mounties Wanderers at Pluim Park, Lisarow on Sunday the 10th of July. Kick off times are: 11am (18s), 1pm (20s), 3pm (first grade).

Why does the ticket state:

" North Shore Mariners will not be held liable for any loss, damage or injury which results directly or indirectly from the raffle, except that which cannot be excluded by law"

Who's actually running the raffle ?

The Central Coast Mariners Academy:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Coast_Mariners_Academy
is solely owned & chaired by Mike Charlesworth.

Whereas, North Shore Mariners are soley administered by Northbridge FC and their President Rory Grace.

.... as per the CCM press release detailing that 'North Shore Mariners' is a venture in partnership with CCM of cooperation in footballing philosophies.
Stated here:
http://www.ccmariners.com.au/articl...dge-fc-partnership/1ne9d48zisq861ido1jezg4d6o

So does the $5 punters spend on a ticket go towards funding the North Shore Mariners ???

Last years raffle barely (if at all) covered the cost of the car, I assume a co-operative has been formed between the two entities in an effort to raise more funds, with any profit either evenly split and distributed to NSMA & CCMA or split according to tickets sold from each.

The two academies are working more closely with Sully the TD for both.

Last years raffle barely (if at all) covered the cost of the car,

Sounds like my time with Central Coast United FC.

Players &/ their families were failing to sell enough tickets so I used to take a car from Booths at Nrth Gosford up to Lake Haven shopping centre (who gratefully allowed us to park it in the centre) every Saturdays to sell tickets.

Still struggling, then President did a deal with Chris Holstein to have the Central Coast Community Chest sell tickets with every $2 ticket earning them $1.

They had litlle old ladies sitting in the Imperial Centre Gosford with the car on weekdays, knitting & selling tickets with CCCC pocketing half the cost of a ticket.

It was no surprise that CCUFC became CCFUC'DFC .... eventually going bankrupt.

academy_lfviog2end9e12ne33lw86z4o.jpg

It’s an Academy Derby Day at Pluim Park this weekend that will see the Central Coast Mariners Academy take on the North Shore Mariners.

In the first version of this fixture back in April the match ended on level terms where Trent Buhagiar scored to make it 1-1 at Northbridge Oval.

The Central Coast Mariners Academy will be desperate to improve on their current form at home with majority of their wins coming on the road this season.

Kick off times for this Sunday July 17 at Pluim Park, Lisarow are: 11am (18s), 1pm (20s) & 3pm (1st grade).

It was Mariners Derby Day on Sunday at Pluim Park that saw the Central Coast Mariners Academy and North Shore Mariners play out a 0-0 draw on the Central Coast.

Central Coast Mariners 0
North Shore Mariners 0

The first chance of the game fell to the home side when Lachlan Wales found himself in behind the North Shore defence. Wales’ shot was smartly saved by the North Shore keeper who went down to his right and kept the game on level terms.

The next chance fell to the North Shore Mariners who found themselves in a good position on the top of the 18-yard-box.

The North Shore attacker fired off his shot that looked bound for the top corner but Adam Pearce made an incredible full stretched save and tipped the ball over the crossbar.

In the 34th minute the Central Coast went close to taking the lead after a free kick from Reece Papadimitrios that forced the North Shore Keeper into an impressive save.

The first real chance of the second half fell to Central Coast in the 62nd minute when a great through ball from Papadimitrios found Wales in a wide area just inside the box. Wales pulled the trigger but sent his shot across the face of goal.

Both sides fought hard but couldn't find a way to break the deadlock in a close second half, seeing the second installment of the Academy derby finish as a stalemate.

ACADEMY WRAP - Mariners vs. Marconi:
academy_16ls9bpfsa2o21jizjsvmlajts.jpg

A young Central Coast Mariners outfit fell to the Marconi Stallions at the weekend away from home, which sets up a crucial battle against the Western Sydney Wanderers at Pluim Park this Sunday.

Marconi 5 (Mirjan Pavlovic 45’, 61’ pen, 66’, Sean Rooney 77’, Noah Chianese 86’) v Central Coast Mariners 0

FAway at Marconi Stadium the Stallions started brightly and had a chance to take the lead within the first minute but Adam Pearce made a top shelf save high to his left to keep it at 0-0. After a mostly quiet first half the next chance was almost 40 minutes later that saw Mariner Tom Lyons hit a volley on the edge of the 18-yard-box, sending it just wide of the Marconi goal. The home side grabbed the lead with the last kick of the first half through Mirjan Pavlovic who hit his shot low and hard into the bottom corner giving keeper Pearce no chance in goals. The Mariners Academy had a brilliant chance to restore parody just two minutes into the second half when a Reece Papadimitrios free kick found the head of Cooper Buswell. Buswell's header went just over the crossbar from close range. In the 61st minute, Pavlovic had his brace thanks to a tidy finish from the penalty spot. Five minutes later, Pavlovic had his hat trick and it was 3-0 to the home side. Marconi scored another in the 72nd minute when Sean Rooney found himself with space inside the box. His shot went low and hard finding the back of the net. With five minutes remaining Marconi had a fifth when Rooney’s cross found the head of Noah Chianese who headed home to make it 5-0. Central Coast Mariners Academy Head Coach Ben Cahn said that he was incredibly proud to see some of his players pushing for places in the first team’s Westfield FFA Cup side but admitted that the balancing act for his side can become a challenge during the PS4 NPL2 season. “There’s nothing that makes us more happy than seeing players like Trent Buhagiar, Adam Berry, Ryan Peterson & Reece Papadimitrios putting themselves in contention for up and coming first team games,” Cahn said. “However it makes it incredibly difficult to pick teams going into the weekend but what it does do is gives our 18s and 20s more of an opportunity. “At one stage we had five 17-year-olds on the pitch, so we can’t expect to go to a powerhouse like Marconi and get a result but it provides an incredible opportunity to the young ones. “The first half performance was as well as we’ve defended all season, we contained the best and most expensive forward line in the league until literally the last kick of the first half when we were well in the game. “Before they scored from the dubious penalty we actually missed two golden one-on-one opportunities so if we score them it becomes a different game,” Cahn said. The Central Coast Mariners Academy are in action this weekend when they face the Western Sydney Wanderers at Pluim Park on Sunday. Kick-off times are - 11am (18s), 1pm (20s) and 3pm (first grade.).

I watched them today.

They are fairly decent and look well coached.

They had a 3.3 draw with the Wanderers. Maybe the Mariners were slightly the better side.
The Drive-bys were more skilled individually but the Mariners bigger and more physical.

The back four are sloppy and all three goals should have been dealt with.
Trent is by far the stand out in both teams. Wanderers keeper and RB looked excellent and the two strikers in the 2nd half very dangerous.
We went 3.2 up in 90 min from a screamer.
Bizarely the ref gave them 5 mins of extra time (not one sec extra in the first half) and they scored with the last kick off the game.

Will the coach be a chance of taking over a if TW fails again? Especially if there is mid season carnage?

He would be cheap and they seem to attack quite well from the summaries but defence seems just as bad as the senior side. Now a club trait..

Haven't seen them play just going off match reports on here.

Let's not death ride Tony just yet!
The coach is pretty young (little fella) himself but had them playing good one touch Football.
The last time I watched a game at Lisa row we lost to some Sydney state league side and it was massively apparent that Mossy was clueless.
This was a much better experience but Coaching Yoof is a lot different. Certainly much more switched on than Moss....

Ben Cahn is his name and he took a very young Noosa Lions team to within a goal of qualifying of the FFA Cup (and that goal was scored by Palm Beach who have a ton of former A-League players. This is his first professional coaching gig however and he is only 28 but who knows. I doubt he would take over though it seems much more likely that it would be John Hutchinson.
