Derby finale would suit Petrovski

CENTRAL Coast striker Sasho Petrovski hopes to face Newcastle again in the grand final and believes his side has a mental edge over the Jets after their impressive major semi-final win.
The Mariners await the winner of the preliminary final between Newcastle and Queensland following their 3-2 aggregate triumph over the Jets.
In-form Petrovski, who scored two goals in the 3-0 second-leg victory at Bluetongue Stadium, said while he believed Queensland were a better team, an all-NSW competition decider would be the best result.
"I think Queensland are a better team, they're more experienced at the back and their midfield is just so mobile, so for me Queensland would probably get the result," Petrovski said.
"But from the supporters' point of view it would probably be better that Newcastle would get through, because they'll probably bring 15,000-20,000 people to the stadium and we can do the same and we'll have a sell-out for the grand final ... that's what we all want."
Petrovski said if the Mariners did get to face the Jets again they would benefit from a mental edge achieved after coming from 2-0 down to clinch the tie.
"Yeah, I think so ... it's something we spoke about maybe six or seven weeks ago," Petrovski said.
"We said then we had to start getting on top of teams so when the finals do come around it puts that doubt in the opposition's mind that we've got that advantage over them.
"They'll be coming out with negativity, not us."
Petrovski dismissed concerns the week off could halt any of the Mariners' momentum, admitting the minor premiers would "probably struggle" if they had to back up for another match this weekend.
"We're all pretty bruised and battered," Petrovski said.
"Everybody knew that if we could turn it around (against the Jets), we'd get the week off to recover and regroup and freshen up and have that advantage going into the grand final."
The striker said the Mariners players were still on a high after the win over the Jets and would be "buzzing right up until the grand final".
"We've produced pretty much a miracle and now we just have to back it up one more time," he said.
