Queensland Roar Breach Salary Cap

This sure could help us get the minor premiership.

Official Statement from Queensland Roar FC re: Player Contract Regulations Breach

FOLLOWING todays media release from Football Federation Australia (FFA) regarding Queensland Roar FCs Player Contract Regulations Breach, the following quotes can be attributed to Queensland Roar FC Chief Executive, Lawrence Oudendyk.

We fully recognise that there was a technical breach of the regulations, however it was not deliberate and resulted from an internal administration error.

Throughout the process with FFA we were entirely transparent and co-operated completely.

We have now implemented procedures to monitor our salary cap status on a weekly basis to eliminate the possibility of any future discrepancies.

We support the principle of the salary cap one hundred per cent and believe it is crucial to ensuring an even competition.

Yea I got this release but it raises more questions than it answers. Has anyone seen a media report anywhere else that names names?

No but ABC has this:

Roar fined over contract breach

Queensland Roar has been fined $15,000 by the Football Federation Australia (FFA) for breaching player contract regulations, according to a statement.

The breach occurred during the 2006/07 A-League season.

The club is required to pay $7,500 up front, with the remaining $7,500 suspended for the remainder of the current season.

No points deduction mentioned.  That'll stir up Sydney fans.

I'd like to know the how, when & why begore bagging anyone. A 7.5K fine is a trifle so it surely can't of been more than a small amount over the cap or undeclared payment.

They were $15,000 over the cap because they "unintentionally" failed to disclose superannuation payments in player's win bonuses.
