First 5 minutes and VAR call on offside for what looked a legitimate goal. Interestingly there was no footage of the offence. No offside lines or anything. Just a replay from a pitchside camera.

Edit. Now they've shown it a good 10 mins later. Actually a great way to show the offside too. Would never have picked that offside in a million years.

That header was sublime. Qatar getting a lesson. I think they've only had the ball in the final third once.

Watched the mini as not keen to sit through the full match replay for this one. Gee that is a tough offside call on Ecuador and I wouldn't be happy to be on the receiving end of it. Must admit I was happy to see the reigning Asian Champions with a starting 11 consisting of 5 nationalised players be the first home team to lose the opening game of the World Cup. Just shows oil money can buy a lot but not everything.

Ecuador looked sharp and well up for it, not easy playing the host nation first up and that early disallowed goal could have knocked them around mentally. Hopefully tonight's matches will be a little more exciting.
