Can also qualify for ACL Elite by winnng the AFC Cup. But agreed it’s a vital week and getting there’s direct to the group stage is much better we’ve seen how difficult qualifying is. I’m interested to see how much the run impacts Australia’s coefficient.
It now gets more interesting after SFC's last minute win.

We have qualified for the Elite (Champions League)

If MVC drop one of their last two games they will finish on 44 points and 11 wins.

SFC already have got their spot in Champions League 2 (equivalent to this years AFC Cup) by being 2023 Australia Cup Winners.

If they win their last 2 games they will be on 44 points and 13 wins and if we win the AFC Cup they will get the AFC Cup winners qualifying spot for the ACL Champions League Elite and the next best Australian team in the league will take their Champions League 2 spot.

Macarthur can also finish on 44 points by beating SFC and WEL and would end up in front of MVC with 12 wins.

Macarthur are the interesting one in that given they play Nix on the last day (simultaneous with our game against Jets). As an insurance policy I would like the results to fall so that they are going into that game with Asian spots on the line giving them an incentive to get a result rather than be cruising into the finals and seeing it as an opportunity to rest any players with minor niggles

With Nix in top 2, the playoff spot disappears.
The only way Macarthur can get an Asian place is if they win the GF - thats the AFC cup place we got in on

I believe that spot goes to Sydney FC as winners of the Australian Cup. They’ll go in to the rebranded Asian Champions League 2. There is (currently) no place in Asia for the Champions. That said this AFC Cup run from the Mariners should be a significant lift to the coefficient and likely open up at least a third Asian place for Australia in 2025-26.

Controversial:
Hyperthetical -

If it came to the last game day and we knew where Sydney where landing, would you consider giving up the Premiers Plate if it meant avoiding Sydney’s side of the finals draw?

As our main Achilles heal would give a couple of teams a chance to knock them off before the possibility of beating those teams to get to us.

No. If you’re the Premier’s Plate winners you shouldn’t be afraid of anyone.

To be honest the Wanderers based on opportunities should have beaten Shitney last night with two clear chances hitting the post. Playing Shitney in a home and away leg final would be interesting as they wouldn’t be able to press for 180 mins in my opinion. I also like having not beaten them because that can be a great motivator.

I thought about that but
Your giving up silverware
Sydney may loose in the first round.
To be the best you have to beat everyone.

If you deliberately loose and loose the plate and loose the GF you look stupid

Daniel McBreen really criticising Rob Stanton for not giving any Jets youth a chance.

Have to agree, Stanton has completely failed to integrate any of their Academy players even onto the bench. Still refusing to with the Jets season over.
