Excellent performance and could have had 8 with a bit of composure in the box.

Kaltek 3pts MOM. A human brick wall. Did not put a foot wrong.
Sammy Silvera 2pts. Our most direct and hungry player. Some sublime skill at times.
1pt Faz. Eye catching at times. Pretty sure Arnie would have noted that performance.

Impressed with Steele again. 3 out of 4 now. Nizzy is just a human dynamo.
Aqualina does offer us more than Storm but is still rough. Storm had one glorious dribble but also got absolutely burned for pace one time.
Triantis is a good player not sure that he is better than Hall but he is a great prospect.

All mostly been said for my part.

I thought AU were very poor, so hard to tell just how good we are. Was expecting much more of a test.
But we looked far too good for them all across the park — even though we were wasteful with far too many final balls and failed to convert a decent amount of chances as well.

Silvera was excellent. Kuol goes, gets his start, and absolutely kills it. Very impressive performance. 3pts

Kaltak - Absolute rock. 2 points.

Niz 1point

Honourable mention for Faz, only missed a point because of his final balls.

Onwards and upwards.

Steele 2 points, best game I've seen him play

Could have given points to anyone on the park tonight. We owned the midfield, were solid at the back and lethal going forwards.

Benni copped a bit of flak here earlier, but that is the way he plays, very unconventional. His team mates don't know what he is going to do, he doesn't know what he is going to do and the opposition has no clue.
Very scary. Put the pressure on the defenders for the deflection for the first goal.
More importantly he wins everything in the air and is the only one of our attackers who can do that consistently. Like Matty used to he wins a lot in the air when we defend corners.

Looking forward to the NPL starting to get a look at many of next years imports. I suspect we will need them. There will be a bit of overseas interest in many of tonight's starting 11.

In other news. Went to the bowlo for the 1st and last time pre game.
Depressing doesn't go close. Absolute dump of a place. Zero atmosphere with a limited beer selection. Not quite sure what the club are trying to achieve with this.
Back to Bay Rd.

My player ratings:

Danny Vukovic: 6, Didn't have much to do and spilled a relatively simple ball but was competent on the ball throughout the match.

Thomas Aquilina: 6, Provided good attacking support for Beni and worked hard during his time on the pitch. However, he got skinned a few times in the first half and we were lucky not concede from a couple of his defensive errors.

Nectar Triantis: 7, Played some terrific balls and kept our possession game moving forward quickly and effectively when at centre back. Caught out with his defensive positioning at times but was bailed out by Kaltak. Still not sold on him as a midfielder.

Brian Kaltak: 9.5, Bailed out our defence multiple times and excelled at centre back. Played some incisive balls and showed he truly belongs at this level.

Jacob Farrell: 8, His work rate and effort levels from last season returned this match. Worked tirelessly up and down to provide support to Sam Silvera and was a dangerous attacking weapon. Still lacking his attacking confidence and pin point crossing from last season, but at least put himself in positions to make those crosses this week. Should only get better as his confidence returns. Nice finish for his goal too.

Josh Nisbet: 8, Once again our mini maestro kept our midfield ticking along and showed we are one of the few ALM sides who can play a possession based game when required. Worked tirelessly to give options to our defenders and decisively dealt with Juande and Isaias.

Harry Steele: 8, Didn't play a wrong pass all night and broke up a lot of Adelaide's dangerous transition play. The best performance I have seen from him and unlucky not to have an assist to his name.

Sam Silvera: 8, Electric going forward and extremely unlucky not to have a goal to his name, but can probably count Beni's goal as an assist. Needed to provide more defensive cover to Farrell in the first half but can't fault his attacking play.

Beni Nkololo: 7, Not Beni's greatest match in Yellow & Navy but still caused Kitto plenty of problems and made a smart run to bang home Silvera's underhit shot.

Marco Tùlio 7, Similar to Beni he faded in and out of this match but still made some important contributions when it mattered. Another unlucky not to have a goal to his name, and really should have had one in the first half.

Jason Cummings: 7, Played an unselfish role but was another that could have had at least one goal to his name. Worked hard all match.

Subs:

Michael Ruhs: 6, Was his usual energetic self but struggled to make a real impact on the game as Adelaide shut up shop. Needs to learn shoot quicker.

Sasha Kuzevski: 7.5, Made a real impact on the game and made numerous marauding runs down the right. Needs some work on his vision when crossing but overall a great performance from a young player.

Storm Roux: 6.5, Did competently defensively but didn't have quite the same electric energy as against Victory.

Cameron Windust N/A: Not on long enough.

Coach:

Nick Montgomery: 10, A master-class from Monty against one of the best teams in the league. Veart clearly watched us against City and assumed we couldn't play a possession based game, Monty more than proved that we could. Would have personally preferred to have Windust on a bit earlier and have Jok/Bayliss on the bench but you can't complain after a performance like that.

My Man of the Match Votes:
3: Brian Kaltak
2: Sam Silvera
1: Jacob Farrell

Beni played really well. Clearly coming back into form.

Silvera 10, I had some doubts when he re joined but he was nothing short of exceptional tonight, every single time he got the ball he looked dangerous, hopefully it continues.
