ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Watch the Ballarat game get moved to Melbourne. Lol.

No but seriously although we want to be positive I would predict or not be surprised if in our run home we don’t even beat Scum or Bris.

Could be all draws and losses based on the predictable and lack of options football tactic we are using.

We may have been lucky last week against Bulls.

I hope not but like my betting usually goes, I’m going to tip against us making the 6 and then we should actually make the 6.

Imagine if we don't make the top 6 now after being the only ones touted as being able to challenge city for 1st for so much of the season
I almost wonder if that could be a better outcome for the club......making the 6 just masks how badly we've choked at the business end of the season (and will continue to cover up whatever the heck is going on behind closed doors, while not making the 6 will see the board demanding answers)

I'd argue that absolutely nothing is "going on behind closed doors"
Far more likely is that one of the lowest funded playing squads initially outperformed and is reverting to the mean.
Better wages = better players
That's how football works (unless you are f**k ups like Sydney or Everton)

So it's rigged to make sure our colonial masters get into the Champions League. Can't do without the "synergy" CFG would lose.
Somebody was always going to get shafted with the change in timing. I think this is a pretty reasonable way of doing it. WU the ones who copped it the worst but tbh they shouldnt be in the ACL after this season. We would be in the running for the second spot (likely City finishes top again) but we've dropped the ball and that's squarely on us.

I get that but they could of at least done a playoff, that's what basically every other league in this situation has done.

It feels incredibly convenient to release such restrictive selection criteria now, when City are fully confirmed to get in, rather than the literal years we have known about this issue for.

I'm not sure they even have that much of a choice. You can only nominate 1 cup winner and FA has said it'll be the Aus cup. It used to be the finals series treated as a cup. Then there's been changes with coefficient allocations over the window too, its all a bit of a mess.
Maybe if you're looking for the fairest answer it's:
Winner of each season plays off for the ACL spot (likely to be city v themselves).
If not City v City for the ACL spot then the loser gets the cup spot.
If it is City v City Runner up of each season plays off for the cup spot which would be Victory v Adelaide on current standings though WSW may snatch it. They've elected to do this on points over 2 seasons rather than a one off game which is arguably just as fair.

I could see how a playoff would make sense with certain permutations but as things sit now there's little need for it and I dont think Victory's feelings are being considered after the bucket incident. Neither them or WU are doing well either and Asia is the last thing they need on top of a crap season.

We have 34 points ...

12 points left

WU away
MC home
AU away
Jerks away...

6th placed team on 28 points....

3 wins by 6th placed team is 37, our goal difference and goals scored is far more than Sydney and those below....

Seems 37 points will sneak in but not for sure...

Big game coming up.... win and we are all but ...
