ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

2021/22 season

I wonder if Perth will be stuck on the east coast for the season?

West Australian Premier Mark McGowan has delayed the state’s reopening over fears lagging booster vaccination rates will cause the Omicron variant to run rampant in the community.

The shock announcement was made during a late night press conference on Thursday, less than three weeks out from the expected reunion date of February 5.

Moving the goal posts more than that game where our goal broke. Not unexpected but a shitty situation all the same. If the benchmark is now having booster shots they’ll be closed for a while given the slow uptake of the 1st and 2nd shot.

It will be interesting to see what concessions he makes for the two AFL teams?
McGowan doesn't make concessions.
Look what happened to the test match.

I suppose on the bright side, Sturridge won't be able to complain about all the air travel.
I wonder if the next thing he'll be whinging about is living out of hotel rooms.

You would be surprised how big AFL is in WA and how much influence they have. Two AFL teams not being able to play in the national comp will be a big deal.

I actually respect that more, at least he's consistent and not letting the test players in while locking out regular people and other codes. Only thing going for AFL right now is its 2 months away. With the overlap Glory may yet get some home games if there is an exception for AFL.

After Mick posted I seemed to recall a bit more about the test match.
Wasn't it more to do with all the staff the TV stations were bringing in?
But from memory they still wanted the teams to quarantine.

So maybe there could be an exception for AFL, if the TV crew is local.
Although someone on Reddit has posted a list of exceptions that don't seem to include sports men & women.

But even so they could possibly allow (but I doubt it) sports under specialist skills or other extraordinary circumstances I suppose.

approved travellers permitted to enter WA under the new expanded exemption from February 5 will include:

Returning West Australians with strong recent connections with WA Returning West Australians with family connections in WA Compassionate grounds including funerals and palliative care or terminally ill visitation People entering for urgent or essential medical treatment People entering WA for national or state security reasons People with specialist skills Commonwealth and state officials, members of parliament, and diplomats Other extraordinary circumstances approved by the Chief Health Officer or Police Commissioner

Boosters going up by around 100,000 every 4 days. Around 1.6 million needed to match the first doses. 64 days. Throw in that a few rounds can be away at the beginning and the AFL will be fine,

Hot tip… boosters won’t stop the widespread infection Marky boy, and any widespread infection is going to cause your horribly underfunded health system to collapse.

This is a fantastic initiative by the club.

Pulling lead on this now and taking one more variable out of FAs decision is a very smart play. With all of the uncertainties surrounding the competition it would be great if this could be settled early such that maximum preparation time is available.

Also with my tin foil hat on, this is the best chance to date we have ever had for hosting a final and I still believe the FA will f**k us over.

The temptation to swing things toward a Victory redemption story with Popa is just too high imo.
We’re going to pull a small crowd this arvo, let’s say 3000 but maybe less. Victory’s last two were 6900 (most recent) and 13k on Boxing Day. I think that’s all the ammo FA are going to need and the bottom line will be their biggest consideration. I don’t see the game being played before 5/2 so maybe the covid situation will have changed a bit by then but I’m not too optimistic.

Sadly I think it's going to be less about crowd numbers and ticket sales and more about swinging the advantage towards a Victory win..

Simply because that's "better for the league"

Now they will justify it by saying it's about ticket sales and creating the biggest spectacle bla bla bla, but my gut tells me it will be about the former.

. nothing to do with the league

. the 'magic of the cup' fits the narrative better ... and our perspective - small club, regional, blah, blah, blah
