ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Yeah but it's an under age tournament.

There was no overlap with the AFC full international and the WCQ rounds.

Full international AFC and AFCON took players out of the EPL (FIFA sanctioned window so clubs had no choice). With so much football in the calendar overlaps will happen, and nobody will care that they take a couple of U/23s out of the second tier club tournament or the aleague.
They should have FIFA sanctioned windows for age groups as well.

Hard to argue that when it's been in the AFC calendar for at least 2 years and it's well known there was no window so it would be mainly domestic players used as o/s clubs wouldn't release players.

It's not like they sprung the tournament out of the blue.

Yes it's not ideal but on the positive, Nestor has had 2 good games in a row so likely to drop off for a bit 🤞🏻
From a purely club related feeling.

It’s APL. You could tell them the world cup final was on and they wouldn’t care if it wasn’t a rule.

We’ve dealt with plenty of issues already but would be nice to have our full team for such an important part of the season.

Will be interesting to see how Nesta finishes the season because the BS with not picking him and saying it’s for his own benefit and then asking him to play when somebody dropped out is going to rub him in some kind of way.

That's the thing though, when? You wouldn't get any club football played if you had a separate window for every age group. And the big boys would never allow the smaller confederations to be allowed to take players all year round.

You could run them concurrently with the full internationals but good luck getting sponsorship or selling tv rights for the under age tournament when it's competing directly with a full international version.

Players can refuse and then be judged for it for a long time but clubs can’t.

We would prefer to have him but we will keep fighting
So its the players decision or the club? Who has the final say?

We've got 2 million bucks on the line here.

Apparently clubs are trying to stop Irankunda playing since he knocked back the Olyroos. Unfair advantage is being claimed so watch this space.

In theory the player could refuse a national team call up. But why would you?

Outside fifa windows the club can refuse to release them (like the European clubs have) but a-league clubs have an agreement with the FA that they will release them.

Well that's bullshit and will never stick.

f**k the agreement unless its contractual. Our position is unique this season and the player is critical to our success. Over 2 million on the line. On this rare occasion, with recent games as examples and with so much on the line, club duties take precedence.

If we can't win the second tier competition because 1 player is missing then we really don't deserve the 2 million.

Club football should never take precedence over international football.
