ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

A League Expansion

I see Nth QLD as too much of a RL heart land to be honest and with a summer comp it's just not the right conditions with the heat and their wet season. NSD plan with promotion sounds great however has some challenges as other have pointed out. Given the Wanderers run the comp they will not allow another western Sydney team any time soon, look how they carried on and caused the Cows to be delayed a year when they were better set up than the nomad WU.

Hmm, well, Nth QLD and Gold Coast both had a crack at a team and both went guts up , whether that had anything to do with unscrupulous owners , I don’t know

Cairns/Townsville have a very strong football community so i`m lead to believe. They also have a spare stadium now that the NRL team have moved

The NSD does have a lot of challenges, one being the close proximity of teams in the Southern Districts and Blacktown Associations that may qualify to enter. Also their proximity to existing A-league clubs.

Well the Gold Coast definitely had an unstable owner in Clive Palmer, but both clubs produced some very good players in their short histories and should be reconsidered as they are strong football areas.

Arguably S Melbourne and (say) Sydney United would get in. Not sure Victory or Wanderers would want that in their back yard
This is why I dont want PnL or 2nd div teams used as expansion teams.

Those clubs had their shot and couldn't help but mismanage their league.

The Crawford review put the argument that these nsl clubs would add no value to HAL/APL.

You can’t hold a region to the failings of an owner. Of all people we should know and support that. But yeah NQLD does face some substantial challenges so I don’t think it will get another run, gold cot more likely of the two.

If the A-League is stymied due to Covid move it to Scotland and amalgamate with the Scottish league and show those Scots teams how to play against Angeball. Also another chance to see Rogic and Boyle.

I'm not sure of that logic. The A-league needs more teams, not some sort of swap deal.
We don’t need Kiwi teams in my opinion, if Kiwi players want to play in the A League maybe a visa exemption but with the ACL situation it doesn’t make sense and definitely shouldn’t be expanded beyond the one team if that team stays at all. Nix add nothing in my opinion.

Yep, I’m not convinced that EnZed teams should be in the AL , purely because IF they win the damn thing , it’s a utter waste of a ACL spot …I still maintain that when the fire chickens were playing out the wolf den , they should of just upped stumps and stayed there, playing as another entity…mind that would of been WAYYYY to hard for the top bloke and his ignoramous associates to put together

Don't think kiwi teams can qualify for the ACL so no issues there. It would revert to the runner up.

I don't have a problem with kiwi teams. Neither do I have a problem with NSL teams being promoted into the AL on merit. I was happy with the Crawford Report as a massive reset but I think a lot that was good got lost along the way. The full football pyramid needs to be established with P/R at every level and then we'll see much stronger fan engagement from all subcultures.

WE need a 16 team competition with no more NZ teams [for one we need AFC to give permission and they are still pissed with us also FIA has to give permission its simple NZ is in Ocarina we are in Asia]

For me, second Brisbane, second Adelaide, second Perth, Canberra, or the Gong and take out second Perth or Canberra...
