The number 1 goal of FFA has to be ,to make the game cheaper for participants.
This bullshit about insurance for players is such a rip-off and is what lead to the breakaway from amateurs to the federation 20 years ago.
Basically the scam was amateurs paid $200,000- in premiums but also got sponsorship of $100,000- per season. However they collected far more than that in fees. However,through creative accounting this was never shown in the books and probably still goes on.
Some rep players are paying $1,000`s per season as are club players.
It has to be reduced !!!....

When bigger clubs on the Central Coast spend $30k on their senior coach and an equal amount in its senior team, while still charging nearly $500 for some registration fees, then grassroot committee members need to have a hard look at their own backyard rather than blaming state and national bodies.

It`s a pyramid scheme.
Everything adds up to the grass roots players being screwed over and it`s been happening for years.
The local Association needs to be transparent with their fees as its got worse.
If each tier was open with their costs they wouldn`t be so high.

I was Chairman of Macarthur when Premier League was first mooted.
It would have cost the Association around $200,000- in fee`s coaches and players wages etc to win a prize of around $10,000- back then.
Total insanity!
That`s why I recommended to the Board that we say No!...
Also why I was a ring leader in the breakaway group from the Amateurs to the Federation

Don’t get me started on NZ teams. APL truely have no idea. I fear for this league, could be dead when P- contract finishes.

Well the Canberra argument is moot if they’re in at the same time. Suspect the gong & tassie would be in line for second division but I would have liked to see Tas get a look in.

Im not anti NZ and that might make me an outlier here. It has some commercial benefits adding $$ from their side and allows us to leverage timezone differences to avoid local kick offs at shitty times - like 3pm in the middle of summer. Could run us into trouble with the AFC though and doubles the chances of a team qualifying for ACL that can’t go.
