ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Really! 2 weeks.
That decision has literally been made to amp up viewers and crowds.

Poor form from decision makers.

Sets a pretty poor example.

Elbow, punch, kick someone in the back of the head only get 2 weeks!!!

It’s like a closing down sale!

I just went back to watch it again. It’s 100% premeditated, seeks him out from distance to have a go at him from behind while play is stopped. Was it the hardest strike? No but 2 weeks sets a very poor precedent for that kind of deliberate action.

Worth noting that:
Football Australia is also investigating a separate incident involving Penha that occurred in the tunnel after the match as a potential breach of the National Code of Conduct and Ethics.
Which could add some time on. Perhaps 1 week to make him available for the all stars game?

And the APL don’t want us fans buying into conspiracy theories fmd……

His conduct that night should have warranted at least 3 weeks suspension, ending his season and sending the sort of message that needed to be sent. Perhaps Gus can enlighten us as to whether the offence committed had a minimum penalty and if so, what that was.

Penha’s act was premeditated and deliberate and should surely have been judged as such and two weeks is an utter joke imho.

This 100%

Just watch Matty get some kind of sanction for getting into Penha as a result of that second statement……

This is very strange, the FA has always been very harsh (and rightly so) with incidents of violence or unsportsmanlike conduct, this is a horrible advert for the game and let's our kids down.

The conspiracy theorist in me suspects that this is 100% an effort to drive up interest in our next game against them, nothing else makes sense.

They don't want us to make the six.

The Match Review Panel determined that Penha committed the offence of “assault on a player (e.g. violent conduct when not challenging for the ball) including an attempted assault on a player”, and thus proposed a sanction of two (2) A-League Men matches, being the minimum sanction for the offence.

Arseholes gave him the minimum. Clearly doing whatever they can to screw us.

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
Match Review panel...what a f**king joke....should be "Review when it suits their agenda panel"

I'm wondering if they went light with the knowledge there would be a second sanction. Bloody well better be - 2 weeks is unacceptable.

Look I’m happy with 2 weeks it wasn’t that bad. We win our next 2 games the result of the last game won’t matter so we send Matty on with 10 To go and tell him to hack the f##k out of them and elbow Penha in the head

That is ridiculous. Should have been 3 weeks at least. It was an elbow to the back of his head/neck. He could have done serious damage. It's very suspicious that he got the minimum when they were going to give Lewis the same for not losing the ball.
